Chapter 5
On a sunny afternoon on Vivianâs holiday, she had the great idea to go to Hampton Court Palace and just hang around in the gardens to enjoy the fresh air. So she got a cab and arrived in Hampton Court. Feeling better than expected, she walked and observed the gardens around the palace alone and with great abandon. Admiring many different types of flowers amongst the green grass, she made notes on the way of how the
seasons change. She suddenly looked up and amongst the many tourists and citizens she saw him. There he was, in the flesh: Thomas Goldman, âMr. I have work, I canât stay, and I was meaning to call you but.â Vivianâs cheeks grew scarlet she was piping hot. Was it just her or the grounds of Hampton Court Palace, too small, too constricting? She had to get out of that yellow flower patch as quickly as possible.
âExcuse me lady! Excuse me sir! Coming through people, oh, sorry love,â she made her way through the flower patch and in her absolute horror, her embarrassment, and also in her wonderful display of shock, she attracted his attention.
Without even knowing it Thomas diverted his attention from his notes on the palace and how he could incorporate the designs in his present work he recognized that voice, he recognized her luscious hair up in that delicious brown bun. He saw her getting out of the patch of flowers and was immediately by her side.
âHello, Vivian fancy we might meet here.â
âOh, you complete bastard!â
âUhh!â a constipated woman in black commented when she heard their conversion.
âWhy am I a bastard what did I do wrong?â
âNothing, I mean everything, you idiot!â She lowered her voice now, âWe had sex and you just left without . . . without anything I thought you were gone for good but poof! Here you are Mr. High and mighty leading me out of the flower garden.â âVivian itâs not like that please let me explain I had work, my mind was on otherââ
âThings! Yes, you made that clear.â
She was leaving furious and disgusted at everything including her own damn luck; she started running. He suddenly ran and caught her arm. âVivian let me show you, let me make it up to you. I wanted to call youââ
âBut you couldnât you had other plans right? Isnât that right, Thomas?â
âLook Vivian Iâll make it up to you please lets just go sit at a bar or wherever you want. Please.â His eyes were shining black
he was truly sorry you could see it in his pathetic face. His hand was held out, âYou coming love or what?â he seemed to say. She shouldnât trust him out of everything she was taught, everything she had read in those fashion magazines on the airplanes. She shouldnât trust this man. However, something took hold of her, something mysterious and unknown. Dark or light, this something was she did not care. She knew that this chance, this life was too precious to waste, and she took his hand.
